We have a special treat in store for the April 2019 jam: The Wildcat Mountain Ramblers will perform a mini-concert at about 3:00. The band does “fun and spontaneous performances of high energy bluegrass and beyond” and encourages requests, audience participation and dancing. Here is the PDF event flyer.

Band members include Robert Cornelius (banjo, vocals & band manager), Suzanne Suwanda (bass, vocals, 2nd fiddle), Alex Mayers (guitar, vocals), Mark Wardenburg (fiddle, vocals) and Chad Johnson (mandolin, vocals) — and often others.

Influences include Flatt and Scruggs, Bill Monroe, Jim and Jesse, The Seldom Scene, The Steel Drivers, the Carter Family, Hazel Dickens, the Osborne Brothers, Hank Williams, the Grateful Dead and Gillian Welch.

There is no extra admission charge for this event.

Free Music Jam at the Rose Garden Park

The July jam will be held in the Rose Garden Park on Naglee Ave. at Garden Dr. (adjacent to San José Municipal Rose Garden). The park is just two blocks from our usual Hoover Middle School location. Free admission (but donations are much appreciated). (Note: We will not have our usual open-mike performances at this jam.)

If you'd like to participate in a Slow Jam or Tune Builder Circle, please ask. For jams in the park we generally arrange them only on demand.

Bring a picnic if you like (barbeques are available in the park), and come to jam or just to listen. Come early and help us by reserving a table!
